If you passed your test and received your driving licence before 1st January 1997, you can tow a caravan or trailer weighing up to 3500kg maximum authorised mass. If you received your licence after this date, then you are allowed to tow up to 750kg, and must take a trailer towing test if you wish to tow anything heavier.
