Servo-motor issues nearly burst relationship.
IRRIGATION, TECHNOLOGY & CUSTOMER SERVICE

Sandfields’ Farm is a Warwickshire based grower and supplier to Europe’s fresh produce distributor giant, G’s Fresh. They have impressed with the app control of AMTEC supplied Idrofoglia new irrigation quiet pumps and reels. However, the mechanical tech developed one major problem that nearly called off the whole operation.
Our relationship with Sandfields began in 2021 with a chance meeting when irrigation manager, Connor, was dropping off some ‘strange, weird nozzles’ to a neighbouring farm which happened to belong to our irrigation specialist, Frans. The pair were soon exchanging best practices for irrigating and discussed their aspirations for the coming seasons and the challenges they were expecting. Frans showed how his Idrofoglia pumps had saved him time, money, and stress, and soon Sandfields had a line of their own to test the waters with.
Unfortunately, the pumps developed a major issue, “I was ready to hang up after the first year because it was proving untrustworthy. I couldn’t send anyone to turn it on out of fear of the priming pipe bursting.”
As a distributor of Idrofoglia, and supplier of these machines to Sandfields, we saw our responsibility to make this right. We used our connections to lock in research and development investment from the original manufacturer. The collaboration between AMTEC, Idrofoglia engineers and Sandfields helped discover the root cause of the issue: vibration. Several improvements and upgrades were designed and sent over to be field tested and we are pleased to say that the issue was rectified.
AMTEC’s ongoing communication and genuine long-term support have proven to be huge benefits for Sandfields. “You take a machine out of Europe and improve to a point where it's usable. You listened to the problems, you actively fixed them, and you followed up the next year to ensure the problems hadn’t returned.”
When asked what makes Sandfields return to AMTEC, he said “You didn’t walk away. It’s a testament to more of a friendship I feel we’ve built over the last four years. I am very happy with AMTEC’s service.”
