What’s the difference between a conventional cultivator and a stubble cultivator? 

Stubble cultivators and general-use cultivators differ on their intended use and, as a result, on their design and the time of year when they’re typically used. General-purpose cultivators are intended to perform secondary tillage, after ploughing, preparing the soil for planting by creating a smooth, aerated seedbed . To achieve this, they have deeper cultivation depth and designs that facilitate thorough seedbed preparation with varying types of tines and discs. Stubble cultivators are intended for shallow cultivation after harvest to break up compacted topsoil and encourage decomposition of crop residue. They have a shallower cultivation depth but heavier tines and are often equipped with additional discs or boards to aid soil mixing.
